What is your advice about? AfL

  1. Mini whiteboards can provide instant feedback on what they know, from a one word answer, diagram or multiple choice.
  2. Get them to show you all at the same time to stop them copying from each other – I do on the command of ‘show me’
  3. Now you need to decide what you are going to do with the evidence you have collected. Repeat teach? Move on? Address a misconception? More practice?
  4. Don’t be afraid to move from the lesson plan if the evidence shows that they haven’t got it.
  5. Look at Dylan Wiliam’s work on hinge questions for writing good assessment questions
