What is your advice about? Data at primary

1: Children are not numbers or levels, they are children.

2: 99.9% of data thrust your way is nonsense.

3: Classroom assessment done by you is infinitely more valuable than ticking boxes or highlighting on a computerised spreadsheet.

4: All children progress at different rates, uniform progress is impossible, if you are told this is going on, see point 2 above.

5: The most important pieces of data you have at your disposal are a child’s birth date and attendance record. Use them wisely.
